The town of Alora is 30 minutes
drive northwest of Malaga along the picturesque Guadalhorce
valley, the roads are good and well sign posted. The town is an
ideal retreat for holiday makers or house hunters from where
you can explore the beautiful Andalucian countryside from. There
are lovely places to visit a short drive away such as El Chorro
gorge and Ardales national park where you can swim, boat, fish
or just go walking along the lake side and though the woods.
There are no shortage of restaurants and BBQ areas to be found
around the lake side. There are many “white villages” in the
vicinity which are full of Andalusian charm including two spa
towns called Carratraca and Tolox where therapeutic treatment
is offered . A little further away is the city of Antequera,
which has an abundance of monuments and a large castle. Other
“must see” places are Ronda 70kl, Granada 130kl and of course
Malaga which you can reach by train. Also by train you can
travel to the tourist towns along the coast.
They include Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola where
there are lovely beaches and warm sea. The resort town of
Marbella is only one hour's drive away from the holiday
apartment. Alora can be a great place to stay if you are
wanting a walking holiday where there are many challenging walks
within easy reach, there is also rock climbing and canoeing at
El Chorro Gorge.
